5-Day National Level Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Data Science Using R Programming

News Date : 06 Aug 2024     News Report

Dates: 6th to 10th August 2024
Organized By: Department of Information Technology, Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology (MGIT), Hyderabad

Objective:

The program aimed to equip faculty members with the latest skills in Data Science, emphasizing the use of R programming for data analysis, machine learning, and deep learning. The FDP sought to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical applications in data science.

Program Highlights:

Day 1: Introduction to R Programming
Participants explored the basics of R, including data types, operators, and data manipulation techniques.

Day 2: Data Visualization and Descriptive Statistics
The day focused on using tools like ggplot2 and Plotly for creating impactful visualizations and understanding statistical methods for data analysis.

Day 3: Machine Learning Techniques in R
Faculty learned supervised and unsupervised learning techniques, covering algorithms such as SVM, Random Forest, and PCA, along with model evaluation metrics.

Day 4: Deep Learning with TensorFlow and Keras in R
Participants delved into building neural networks and advanced topics such as CNN for tasks like image classification.

Day 5: Advanced Topics and Assessment
The final day covered advanced techniques like XGBoost, ensemble models, and time series analysis. The program concluded with an online test to evaluate participants’ learning.
